YOGa
At it's core, the physical practice of yoga is designed to help us learn to sit still and be comfortable with silence. And it's amazing what we find when we sit still long enough for the voices of the world to quiet down! That still small voice? It's been there all along, gently tugging at us, calling us out of the fray.
My Yoga Philosophy
I approach yoga as both a spiritual discipline and a tool for health and well-being. As a Christian, I believe that God is our creator and sustainer, and the path to peace, love, joy, fullness and flourishing come through a relationship with Jesus Christ. However, God can use all kinds of things to help us experience him more! The physical and meditative practices of yoga can help us quiet our mind and offer ways of physically working out spiritual lessons such as waiting in discomfort and acceptance of our limitations. As a medical provider, I've been trained to evaluate therapies based on the scientific method. In addition to my own personal experience of yoga, there is an increasing body of valid scientific data that explains and supports the mechanisms and benefits of yoga practice for improved physical and mental health.
I offer both scripture-based yoga, which explicitly incorporates Christian prayer and scripture with flow and yin yoga practices, and "regular" yoga, which offers space for participants to engage in the stillness and movement without any specific spiritual framework.
